SWAPPING SUITS FOR ACTIVEWEAR WITH UK LINGERIE

Swapping my job in the city for an even busier job as mummy meant a sea change in what I wear. No more pencil skirts, fitted dresses and high heels on a weekday and pretty little dresses or my trusty Levi’s at the weekend…

No.

That’s all packed away in boxes in the loft while I enjoy maternity leave!

These days my wardrobe is far smaller and far stretchier! In fact, Mr P has far, far, more clothes in his.

Tailoring has been swapped for comfort and practicality. Days are spent sitting or crawling around on the floor, bouncing or walking with baby or feeding. With milk, sick and other baby things smeared across me!

Comfort and practicality comes first. But it still need to be sassy.

Leggings, jeggings and lounge wear are what I now live in. I’ve drawn the line at pyjamas – since the first couple of days I have made sure to get up, showered and dressed!

I’m thankful my baby weight has gone, because whilst normally lycra would be the reserve of home or gym… On maternity leave, trips out of the house are often lycra clad (with a fluffy baggy jumper to smarten and cover up)!

Since I intend to live in my active wear all winter, it needs to be good quality, look good and be in plentiful supply!

Step in UK Lingerie who asked me to pick an outfit and put it to the ‘Mummy-test’… Happily! They have a small but well put together collection of active wear and from brands I didn’t know. And I am glad of the introduction!

A gift, but of my choosing. And I certainly chose well, truth be told.

White Lole Repose top

It looks good, like a day-top rather than a fitness one. It’s long enough and doesn’t ride up, made from a light, floaty material as well as being stretchy. The back particularly appeals with its mesh design – in look its funky but also it stops me overheating. The ultimate test was having baby strapped onto me in a baby carrier for a stroll… I didn’t over heat and nor did he!

Note – it isn’t a feeding top, but sometimes it is nice just to wear everyday tops and if I am at home then it really doesn’t matter that it isn’t a feeding top!!

Acai Berry Compression Leggings

I picked them for the pattern that I love. As someone who prefers plain tops, I love patterned leggings to brighten things up and this pattern is eye catching! They are compression tights so when I do start running again they’ll be effective for my recovery. I really like the phone pocket on the thigh. I have dropped my phone so many times in three months but not anymore! At 5ft10in the length means they skim my ankles, running leggings are usually a little longer, but I still think they look good. The lycra is strong, I haven’t been forever pulling them up despite crawling around in them!

A nice treat to have some funky and comfortable clothes for playtime with the baby that aren’t from a (stripe-based) maternity range.

Happily they also pass the ‘cling’ test undertaken by Baby P, which right now is probably the most important test!

The clothes were a gift from the UK Lingerie activewear range. Views are my own, I wouldn’t be crawling around in something that wasn’t a) comfortable and b) flattering on a postpartum body!

Have a look at the UK Lingerie website if you haven’t before – a great choice of lingerie (obviously), but also lounge wear, swim wear and kaftans.
