I’ve been lusting after a stay at one of the Collection Rivages locations for a long time. Last year we got the ‘road trip’ itch, realised that meant we could holiday with the dog, spotted they’d built a pool at Sauvage – Collection Rivages and summer 2026 was booked! We spent 3 nights at Sauvage – Collection Rivages in Quiberon Brittany this July and I’m happy to share this review.
Sauvage – Collection Rivages is located in the south of Brittany moments from the sea on the east coast inland side of the Quiberon peninsula in a sleepy little hamlet called Saint- Julien. It’s perfect in every way! Sauvage combines the feel of a campsite with more luxurious and comfortable cabin accommodation.
Welcoming
I’m a big fan of not being surrounded by Brits, we and a couple of British families slotted in around families from all over Northern Europe. There were a number of multi-generational groups too. Even better the place was incredibly dog friendly and we weren’t limited on accommodation choice either.
Unspoilt
This is laid back luxe, totally in keeping with this bit of the Quiberon peninsula which is dotted with elegant homes and has a barefoot and bicycle culture to it. We’ve been down to La Rochelle and Ile de Re before and this is like a quiet little sister, great in her own way.
Elegant
I like holidays to look as nice as they are and the cabins and whole open-air set up at Sauvage – Collection Rivages is particularly aesthetically pleasing. The cabins are wood clad and elegant, with loads of greenery and careful planting to create privacy and a rustic feel. Slow and simple living at its best.
Cool
Air conditioning was a massive win – we had two excellent machines in our beach house. Arriving fresh from 38 degrees and no a/c with a dog that was questioning whether she liked holidaying, these beautiful machines were wonderful. As was the elegant swimming pool and the three minute walk to the sea!
Our beach house
We stayed in a two bedroom beach house. These are the smartest of the options and I picked one of these as they have more outdoor space and privacy and the indoor layout is spacious compared to the other 2-bed option. They have more shade too, which was essential with a dog. I suspect the frame of the cabin is a caravan or container, but the cladding, decking and planting hide it perfectly! There are less expensive ‘comfort’ cabins and options for all family sizes and budgets.
The bedrooms were comfortable and big enough with plenty of storage and proper black out curtains. Really elegantly designed too. Both bedrooms had an en-suite toilet and en-suite shower. I particularly liked that there were outside doors to each room as well as windows in the en suites, nice to get a fresh air draft instead of the (very quiet) a/c.
Between the bedrooms is an open plan kitchen diner area, enough space to live in and eat inside when it got hot outside. The kitchen is very well sorted – hob and combi microwave, a large fridge with freezer compartment and an excellent array of cutlery crockery and glassware. There’s a welcome box of cleaning bits and bobs with plenty for a few days.
We loved the outdoor space – dining table tucked in a shady spot on the deck as well as Adirondack chairs in the sun and another seating area on the shady deck. In a corner of the deck is a big external cupboard, ideal for locking bikes and paddle boards in. This is a place for living outside.
Open air living
It’s not a “resort” and it’s not a campsite! It’s an open-air hotel, a perfect description. A peaceful collection of cabins with some common spaces for all. Between the cabins is really good planting, holding strong in a drought! Wispy and blowing in the breeze with muted purple flowers that look great against the wood cladding. There’s a track through the middle of the cabins, so you can drive your car through and drop off your luggage, but cars are then kept out of the way in a car park.
You’ll find Bar Tonnerre and terrace, the club house and pool in the shared space by reception. As you’d expect it’s elegant and understated. At reception you can order morning pastries and bread for collection or sit for the breakfast buffet. It reminded me of the Canvas Holidays vibe when I was younger, but cooler and prettier! Weaving pathways and the kind of place its safe for kids to roam. Happily dog-friendly and welcoming too.
The pool is lovely, there’s actually an indoor and outdoor pool and both are gorgeous. Busy in the afternoons but lane swim early morning and then quieter morning use for families as well. A new addition last year and a real joy to have it. You can book some swim and other classes ahead of time in the app.
The bar and clubhouse are chilled. When we were there it was the football World Cup semi final as well as there being a music festival. A great family vibe and even better we couldn’t hear any of it from our cabin!
There are plenty of kids club options here too but we didn’t take part. There’s also an orchard area and play area across the resort so plenty of space to run free! There’s a programme of events on the app.
Just outside the resort you’ll find their restaurant Sable as well as a grocery store with everything you’ll need (otherwise a Lidl nearby and an excellent Super U in Carnac). Sable we loved, set just back from the beach and an excellent menu. Friendly service and dog friendly!
L’environ
Countless little beaches a few moments walk outside the resort. Such was the heat, we enjoyed them early in the morning which meant we could have Poppy on some parts of the beach too. We walked the coast or paddle boarded in the bay. If you don’t take your own you can hire boards and bikes.
Quiberon peninsula itself is lovely, especially this bit of the coast and the wild sauvage on the west. I’d definitely get bikes another time and spend time exploring. We had a lovely lunch by the sea at Le Vivier and another at L’Epusiette. This is somewhere the French summer and have family holiday homes, so you get a very relaxed and cycle-based pace of life.
We headed into La Trinite sur Mer one day to ogle the incredible racing yachts and have a mooch. It’s a pretty little town making a big thing about its sailing which is great to see. I discovered a particularly good Super U on the road between here and Carnac!
C’est parfait
This was the perfect mix of space and relaxation with enough resort things (food and pool) to keep us busy when we needed them. Being just moments away from some quiet little beaches was superb.
Mainly this is a place to slow down and relax, a modern approach to the camping holidays of old that’s particularly easy on the eye too. Having wanted to stay for so long, it was as good, if not better, than we’d hoped for.
Is Sauvage – Collection Rivages worth staying at?
Oh my goodness yes! If you’ve read this review you’ll see how much we loved it. More expensive than Eurocamp yes, but it didn’t feel like we were on a campsite, or amongst lots of people. Collection Rivages have created a space that is laid back and peaceful for families of all ages, but with everything you might need to keep you busy and entertained too – all whilst living in comfort!
