THE NOWABABY COOL BREEZE SEAT LINER

My review of the Nowababy Cool Breeze seat liner that we were kindly gifted

THE NOWABABY COOL BREEZE SEAT LINER

One of the biggest worries I’ve had, right from when baby was born (in last summers heatwave), has been about him overheating. The risk to a baby when they get too hot is massive. They can’t regulate temperature the way we can. So keeping baby as cool as possible in hot weather is essential.

When we are out and about, my little one happily spends time in the pushchair. Increasingly (because that is what he does at nursery) he has one of his daily naps in there too. Pushchair time in an increasingly hot UK can be a worry… I hate retrieving him from his pushchair to find the hair on the back of his neck is wet or his clothes are damp against his skin.

I often ponder why pushchairs (for the great cost we invest) aren’t already breathable and ventilated… But since they aren’t it’s lucky there’s a new product to help! Through My Bump 2 Baby I came across an excellent new product from Nowababy that I was sent to trial.

What is the Nowababy?

The Nowababy Cool Breeze Seat Liner is a lightweight padded and breathable seat liner. It fixes onto my pushchair and is compatible with the harness. There are some little elastic straps and a toggle behind the headrest so that you can wind around the pushchair fixings to hold it in place. I’ve been using it in both my Bugaboo Buffalo and my GB Pockit+ (which we use when we are travelling). It looks smart, fits well and if you put it in place before putting the baby onboard then it’s easy to use. In fact it is so lightweight and slim that the Pockit+ folds up tiny with it too. I believe that it has also been crash-tested so can be used in a car seat too, although we haven’t tried.

The seat liner is made from tencel fibres – apparently it’s from a sustainably sourced wood so you do learn something every day. The fibres are put together into a padded breathable mesh. When you touch it, you notice how soft and lightweight it is. It is straight forward science – the mesh will clearly help with air flow as it keeps baby away from the pushchair fabric. The Nowababy is soft too, so I suspect it makes the pushchair ride more comfortable as well. I picked a pale blue colour, but there’s also grey, pink and beige to choose from.

What do we think?

Do we love it? Yes we do. We’re having another very hot summer here in the UK with a few heatwaves thrown in, just in the weeks since we’ve had our Nowababy. So I feel like we’ve had the perfect opportunity to test the breathable properties! Right from the start I noticed just how well it kept my little one cool. It is certainly breathable as he hasn’t been at all sweaty when I have picked him up. Thankfully it fits in both my pushchairs, and this is especially useful as our travel one will typically be with us when we’re in hotter climes!

I’m also thrilled that it is machine washable, because now that I have taken the fleece lining off the pushchair it also catches any leaks or food spillages for me. And because it is padded, it’s softer for him, so I am sure it must be more comfortable to sit on or snooze. It also looks really smart too, it fits the pushchair and is well made with a neat shape and edges. I look at the photos of him and he doesn’t notice it, yet it’s keeping him cool and comfortable. That’s ideal in my mind.

I’m really pleased with our Nowababy seat liner. It is absolutely worth its $39.99. Whilst it was gifted to me, if I didn’t trust it then I wouldn’t be using it in hot weather. It really is useful. And if baby is comfortable then I am relaxed. So it’s definitely a win win for us!

Mason is so hot natured I don’t know why I never thought to get one of these. What a great idea!

It’s really such a good idea, we put them on a warm base in the winter to keep them warm, so a breathable one on a hot day is a no-brainer!

Aw it looks super comfy! We’re also worried about the heat now. We’ve directed two fans on to him while he sleeps…

The white noise of the fan is good too, I had a little usb one from amazon to clip to the pram last summer, worth getting as good for trips abroad too!
