SPARKS OF TRAVEL JOY

There’s plenty of joy in life without travel, thankfully. But there’s something about travel, or an adventure, that really sparks joy in me. Travelling less now that we have a little one, I have pondered what sparks joy for me in a trip.

Champagne, especially the first sip that says ‘we are on holiday’

Sunshine, because nothing says holiday better than sunglasses, winter or summer

Space, perhaps not as much as at home, but private space to relax away from others

Taken at a stunning AirBnB on Crete

Views, to sit and enjoy and forget the worries of the world for a moment

Taken near the top of Pico Ruivo in Madeira

Ease, of travel to the destination, getting there smoothly is essential

Taken on our first family holiday, to Vienna

Company, of my boys to relax together and enjoy each others company unrushed

Hidden gems, far from the tourist trail where locals go too

Taken in the Peloponnese at the Kinsterna hotel

Sea, the sound, the smell and just being able to be by it, watching it and being mesmerised

Sunset, because nothing says we made the most of the day like watching the sun set

Taken in Cornwall, nowhere does it better

And as a lover of good old english breakfast tea… A proper cup of tea sparks more joy on holiday than perhaps it should! Let down so many times by tea masquerading as proper, the delight when it is the real deal really is quite a splendid joy!

Looking back through those few fundamentals, they are my formula for a perfect trip. Family travel or couple travel, the same things work and as we proved in Abu Dhabi its a Parker-proof adventure!

Once again, I’m linking this up as part of the monthly Travel Linkup. This month we are talking about travel moments that have sparked joy.  Just pop your post up over the first week of the month (the 1st – 7th March 2019), add it to the link up widget found on Follow Your SunshineAdventures of a London Kiwi and Binny’s Food and Travel Diaries, or on the blog of our lovely co-host Maggie at Planes and Champagne. There are no rules – just check out some of the other cool bloggers that are involved in that months travel link up; make a few comments here and there and tweet a few of the posts out to your followers that you think they will love. It’s a great way to meet some new travel bloggers and share some blogging joy!

I would LOVE to stay in a Chewton Glen treehouse – it must be an incredible experience!
