Project 365 – September

I am struggling to get my head round the reality that we are now 3 months from the end of the year, where did the year go.  At times I struggle to find something to photo each day, but perhaps having a daily task (beyond the normal ones we all have) makes time feel like it is passing by more quickly!

Anyhow – September.  Happy times and sad times, a lot happened this month.

Plenty of time spent in London and plenty of time spent trying out different courtesy cars while the build fault with our car is diagnosed… stressful!  A valuable tip if you want a healthy supper – Itsu is half price in the evenings, perfect antidote to the day!

Highlight of the month – 8 days in Sardinia – sailing, laughing and relaxing!

1st-10th September

1st-10th September

Much to our delight we missed most of the ramp up of interest in the Scottish referendum while we were in Sardinia, however 4 days of it on our return was more than ample…  Porto Cervo doesn’t have an Indian restaurant – so rather predictably, we had curry take away on our first night home!  Perhaps there’s a commercial idea there for someone…

11th-19th September

11th-19th September

September is always a manic month at work and it is always the first month when it isn’t unusual to be going home in the dark!  A novelty the first time around…  Thankfully I had a bottle of fizz on my desk one day this month which was very well received in the Parker household – and enjoyed rapidly, toasting the ‘no’ vote in the referendum as justification for drinking it so soon!

Who has Jamie’s 15 minute meals – I have to say they are good, and Mr P made a cracking meal from it, however one complaint – he went missing for the best part of 45 minutes to prepare it… so dinner was 30 minutes later than the recipe book implied!!

Another highlight of our month was taking part in Bart’s Bash.  The event is set up in memory of a great man and an incredibly successful sailor.  It brought sailors out onto the water for the largest global sailing race and it was fantastic to be part of it.  It really showed just how much of a grass roots sport sailing is to see so many boats out racing not the same Sunday.  It was like the ‘old days’ when we and all our friends would go sailing every weekend, Facebook was full of sailing status updates!  An incredible way to honour Andrew Simpson and for the Parker’s a great excuse to get back out on the water in a dinghy and enjoy sailing together.  Great wind, sunshine and fund racing!

20th - 28th September

20th – 28th September

Our train company have now finally introduced WiFi – and happily it is free to everyone on the train, how reliable it is is another question!  This months work trip was to Brussels – hmmm they have worse border queues that we do, although this was due to a strike…

End of the month and it is definitely feeling more like Autumn – a cold, DIY, a sighting of holly on a country walk, rain…. Come back summer, I’m really not ready for Autumn yet, pretty as it may be!

29th-30th September

29th-30th September

Final day of the month and much excitement – Vegusto is a discovery that a colleague has made, moo-free cheese sauce!  Cannot wait to start cooking with this, it can even be frozen!

And so onto the final quarter of the year… 3 more trips left – Greece in October, Vienna and Snowdonia in November.  And even a day trip to DC!  Something tells me it will be Christmas in the blink of an eye!

Phew, reading your monthly reviews makes me feel like I accomplished so little this month! I’m with you and wondering where the time goes. I thought it was supposed to slow down as we got older, but no such luck. I’m impressed you have stuck to the photo a day. It will be a breeze for the rest of the year!

Ditto Alison’s comment. You seem to pack so much in.

I love Sardinia so I hope there will be some more posts from there. Such a magical island.
