Penelope and Parker in August

August – another month that went by in a blur, in fact 2015 has a bit of a theme to it it seems! As is customary, here’s my best bits!

The month started warm, thank goodness – we immediately made the most of it – garden time, BBQ’s, fish and chips by the sea and lots of time spent with friends, a bit like coming out of hibernation!

For the first time in 12 years I did Cowes Week, and for the first time in 13 years the Fastnet Race.  So I decamped to Cowes for a few days and then went offshore and offline (what a luxury!).  Of course the weather didn’t play ball at all times – but we had a darn good time regardless!  It has been a fabulous month on the water – great to be back!  Tough getting back into the swing of things at home – 4 hours on / 4 hours off (sleeping) is a routine I am missing at work and its also much quieter without the 24hr7 company!

Thankfully we arrived back at home from the Fastnet in time to enjoy a weekend before going back to sleep – having abandoned Mr P for the best part of 2 weeks (rare – it is normally the other way round!) we found a quiet spot for lunch by the water in Sarisbury Green and caught back up with each other!

Great to be home from sea and enjoying a long and late lunch with Mr P in the sunshine at Bistro8 on the Hamble

By the time I went back to work, it was unfortunately feeling rather Autumnal, in fact the weather became monsoonal – I love London but in the pouring rain it really is miserable.

I was pleased to be featured by Amberlair this month as one of their BoHoLover’s – a great initiative, I can’t wait to see the first property!

The final bank holiday before Christmas (I know – already!!) marks the end of the month and we absolutely made the most of it!  Friday night cocktail making with the girls…  Hidden away in Southampton is Bring and Mix – absolutely inspired, we will be back for more!

Plenty of spirits here!

Followed by a day of DIY and spring (Autumn?) cleaning. Although as the photo illustrates I did more supervision as Mr P fettled the spare room with new curtains to go with the new window!  Clearly I was exhausted from the cocktail drinking and having done a mass throw-out of old clothes by 9am (what is it with weekends and waking up early?!)

We rounded off the month in style – in London at the start of the 10th edition of the Clipper Round the World Race.  A great day out – incredibly lucky with the weather and fab to spend time with friends from the race!

Lots of fun seeing off the Clipper yachts at the start of their circumnavigation

And on we go to September – I think I need a quiet month…!
