HANDMADE PARTIES – DINOSAUR EXCAVATION PARTY

Last weekend Little B was invited to his first party and it was the party that set the party bar high… Now he’s only ten months old so was perhaps a little young, but Mummy was in learning mode! Whilst his first birthday party is going to be a simpler affair, after that, we have years of parties to host and so this early research was invaluable!

The Dinosaur Excavation Party had all the essentials for a perfect party! This was the first dinosaur excavation party that Handmade Parties hosted and we were invited to experience it. Views are always my own and actually just seeing the party through a child’s happy eyes is recommendation enough!

Great theme

What small child doesn’t love a dinosaur? Well mine loves his fluffy ones so a dinosaur excavation themed party was always going to be a hit! There were girls and boys at the party, the theme works for both perfectly. And if you have a pixie or a fairy then there is also an equally spectacular looking fairy garden party!

Gorgeous venue

The venue is a quiet corner of Furzey Gardens complete with its own thatched barn. The gardens are just off the A31 on the edge of the New Forest. I hadn’t been to them before but a stroll after our party to find the fairy doors and look at the flowers was well enjoyed.

Fun activities

The party was two hours which is a long time to entertain children, but there was plenty to do. We started in the sand pit excavating dinosaurs with brushes and spades… Then there was bubbles and washable dinosaur tattoos whilst everyone got the chance to explore the garden with their binoculars…

Lunch was served spectacularly in the barn, the walls and ceiling were covered beautifully in theme. And for the children lovely handmade dinosaur stools!

Food was of course thought through, coming in a dinosaur cool bag was dinosaur eggs (grapes), bones (crisps) and sandwiches and a chocolate pudding in a bucket with a spade to eat it with… Even the water bottles had dinosaurs on them! We had a treasure hunt to end the fun and have since been hatching a dinosaur egg at home!

Lovingly handmade

I am a big supporter of small businesses with Little B, for the quality and the attention to detail. And it’s no different for parties. All the decorations at the party and the little play sets were hand made. The barn looked awesome to us as adults so I can only imagine how inspiring it was for the little ones. Better still there wasn’t a plastic balloon in sight.

Overall

Whilst my little man was far younger than the target age, it was still a treat we both enjoyed. I was awestruck by just how impressive a party can be, and know that it’s worth getting the experts involved. Little B was awestruck by the sensory activities and fun. Watching the older children it was clear what a fun party it was for them too.

Whilst Little B played with the wheels of his pram near the end I was talking to the lady that runs Handmade Parties. She mentioned there’s a digger party in the making too, she has our attention for years to come!!
