My top 10 travel highlights of 2016

What a year 2016 has been globally.  My top 10 highlights may well sound frivolous and privileged in a year when the world has been full of sadness, unrest and nasty surprises.  But they made us smile, laugh and relax after some challenging years. Its been good for the soul.  I’m amazed we fitted in 6 overseas trips in a year when work has been rewarding, but non-stop. Best drive Mr P wants to upgrade the car.  But our convertible is much-loved and pays…

Jerusalem & the Dead Sea: Israel day trips

No trip to Israel could be complete without visiting Jerusalem and the Dead Sea? I think it is fair to say doing it in a day is a bit of a mission (for the driver that is – thank you) but oh so worth it!  We had a marvellous trip, we were missing one of the gang – she had to go to work sadly – but even so we had a marvellous time, the last big adventure of our…

Rosh Hanikra & Akko – Israel day trips

Israel spoils you for culture, history and day trip options – there is an incredible amount to see and so we took a road trip up from Tel Aviv to Rosh Hanikra and Akko/Acre in the north of the country.  Israel has some rather exciting borders to the north – both are pretty quiet at the moment thankfully.  There’s the border with Syria which I’d like to visit on a longer trip (a bit edgy for a first visit I…

Tel Aviv – vibrancy and culture

Visiting friends in Tel Aviv, the city was a perfect base and where British Airways handily deposited us in comfort. I had two favourite cities – Singapore and Washington. I now have three – TLV has vibrancy and culture like Singers, cleanliness and safety like DC and a big dollop of South Beach to make it fresh and fun! Even a short glance at my previous post would tell you how blown away we were by our trip! There’s an immense amount…

Beyond expectations in Israel

We were able to conclude within about half a day (I exaggerate, 2 hours tops…) of being in Israel that we were really glad to have ignored the UK press and any raised eyebrows.  As much as I said to people ‘it’s safer than Paris/Brussels/London’, at the back of my mind I did wonder but thankfully only fleetingly….  I knew from our friends we were visiting just how much they love their home, and my research had me giddy with excitement but I hadn’t realised just…

A taste of Israel

Israel should be at the top of any foodie’s travel plans – the food is incredible, I am licking my lips remembering!  Flavoursome, fresh, varied and interesting, everything was delicious and actually we ate so much it could have been an official food tour!  Here’s to friends with good taste! As a dairy-free diner, Tel Aviv is perfect – firstly it is the vegan capital of the world and secondly, kosher cooking separates dairy from the rest.  But have no fear,…

Dream destination Israel #sendmeaway

I’ve been dreaming about holidays for a while this winter, I re-wrote my wish list and had great fun collaboration with some lovely ladies as to where we wish we were right now…   But this years dream destination for us has to be Israel – this week we booked our flights and the hotel research has begun! I am so excited to go here, we’ll be visiting in May when the temperature is going to be perfect for having…
