In search of sunshine – Tenerife

Normally in January we book something long haul and outrageous but this year we didn’t quite get around to it!  In early Feb we worked out we could squeeze in 3 days leave and so get away for 5 days adding the weekend.  We needed sun, a short flight and safety… The Canary Islands popped into view and there began my internet trawl to find a quiet corner.  Easier said than done, although once I worked out where the busy upscale resorts were life…

Flashback Friday Travel 38 – Oman

Oh – man, or ooo – man – whichever way you say it, Oman is an incredible place to visit – a stunning coastline, beautiful mountains and dunes and some incredible hotels.  We rounded off a busy year of travel in 2012 with a week in the Sultanate of Oman.  Oman, well more accurately, The Chedi hotel in Muscat, had long been on the ‘must-visit’ list.  Mr P met the Chedi team at a travel show and we were booked…

The Chedi Muscat

The Chedi Muscat had sat on my bucket list for a long time, well before this little blog and we treated ourselves to a visit a few years back!  Happily the whole experience was as good, if not better, than the reviews said!  It is an iconic hotel – not least this view.  It is instantly recognisable to so many, not just those that have visited. I first saw this picture in ‘The Big Short Trip’ by Original Travel and it had me…

Country weekend at The Crown Inn

#Take12Trips got off to a splendid start this weekend! We enjoyed a thoroughly relaxing time at The Crown Inn, in Elton, on the Cambridgeshire / Northamptonshire border. I hadn’t been able to arrange the Parker diary to visit in December as hoped so we had been looking forward to a wintery mini-break for a while, and it certainly didn’t disappoint! The Inn is perfectly located in a gorgeous little village.  Elton is 10 minutes drive from Peterborough and about 90 minutes…

Autumn visit to Greece

Greece – well finally I’ve found where future sunshine mini breaks will be!! I’ve only ever heard about the party islands or the gilded resorts on Santorini and so had crossed these off the preferred visit list. I wanted to enjoy the real and rustic country, in luxurious surroundings! Thankfully Mr P knew of the Peloponnese and this is where we headed… Getting there was easy and whilst I can’t say I’m impressed with the reduced leg room the new…

A great dame – the Chewton Glen

As my husband will confirm, I often ask him the question ‘when can we stay at the Chewton Glen next’ followed swiftly by the statement ‘i’d really like to stay in a treehouse there’…  In fact he might go so far as to say I sound like a broken record!  But the fact is that I really like it there and have been lucky to stay there previously.  It really is charming, whilst I am shocked to say that I…

An Arabian Adventure

The year before last we went to Oman and loved the climate, the culture, the people and the hotels!  We had the taste for this part of the world and this year visited Abu Dhabi and Dubai, not just for the dates, which are in plentiful supply!…. Neither my husband nor I would consider choosing a city break holiday in isolation, with our free time spent on a pristine man made beach minutes from the hum drum of the city.  We are happy…
